GUIDANCE FOR USE OF WEBSITE |

The website comprises many 'webpages' which are linked together to allow you to navigate your way around the website. Links are indicated by a darker grey background colour which is the same as the color
used as the background for the title to each page.
You will note that the arrow cursor changes to a hand icon when it passes over these links. Click on them and you will be
taken to the relevant page.
In some cases, links are headings or text but in some cases they are images. Sometimes, you may find that an entry has two possible links, such as a heading and its associated image. An example is the website home page and the 'About our Village' webpage. In such a case, click on either the heading or the image - the result will be the same. On most pages, immediately under the title is a horizontal menu of links as in this page. Clicking on any of these will take you to the appropriate webpage. There may also be a vertical list of links with further text and/or associated images. These may be the same as the horizontal links or may be different depending on the level in the heirarchy you are presently at. Whatever level you are at you should find little difficulty in finding your way around the website. Apart from the shorter webpages, there is a link at the bottom of the page to take you straight back to the top of the webpage rather than having the scroll back up. (As on this webpage.) The figure towards the end of this webpage indicates the structure of the website. |
Links used on this website are of four types:
The first two forms of links should not present any problems and it should be absolutely clear what is happening. Links to other webpages have a light blue background (as 'Enter village website' and 'Return to portal' in the horizontal menu of links towards the top of this webpage. Internal links have a grey background (as 'Navigation', 'Links' and 'Structure of website' in the horzintal menu of links towards the top of this webpage). Links to other webpages on this website are the more common. Generally, rather than using in built links to go back to a previously visited webpage, you may find it easier to use the back button (or previous button) with your browser. The email links allow you to send an email to the relevant person or organisation. After sending your email you will return to the page you sent it from. The last type of link - to external websites - may need more careful attention. They are indicated by a light cream coloured background. In particular, there will not be any links back to the village website. This means that to return to the village website, you will have to click on your browser's back button (or previous button). If you have gone beyond the page of the external website directly linked to, you may have to click on the back button more than once. This will bring you back up the external website and, eventually, back to the page of the village website from which you linked to the external website. |
